There are several benefits to linking your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) to your 12-digit Aadhaar number, particularly for those employees who want to withdraw funds from their EPF account. In a PF system, also called a Provident Fund, both the employee and the employer make contributions to a corpus fund that the employee receives upon retirement. A Universal Account Number serves as a representation of the EPF account (UAN). In order to link the PF to the UAN, the UAN must essentially be seeded with an Aadhaar card. The cardholder must physically be present at any EPFO branch or Common Service Center in order to use the option of linking your Aadhaar Card Link To EPF Account  offline.

UMANG App: Link Aadhaar to EPF Account

Your Aadhaar card and EPF account can be connected using the UMANG mobile application. However, the National e-Governance Division and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology have introduced the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) application to encourage mobile governance in India. If you want to claim your EPF online, you must link your Aadhaar number to your UAN (Unique Identification Number) (Universal Account Number). Your EPF account will be linked if you link your UAN to Aadhaar. Using the UMANG APP, complete these steps to link your Aadhaar and EPF account:

  • With your “MPIN” or the OTP issued to your registered cellphone number, log in to the UMANG App.
  • Select “EPFO” from the “All Services” menu after logging in.
  • Choose “e-KYC services” from the EPFO section.
  • Under “e-KYC services,” choose the Aadhaar Seeding option.
  • Enter your UAN now, then click “Get OTP.”
  • An OTP will be given to the mobile number associated with your EPF account.
  • Type in your Aadhaar details.
  • An additional OTP will now be sent to your registered email address and mobile number.
  • Your Aadhaar and UAN will be connected once the OTP has been validated.

Note: It is required for employees to link their UAN with their Aadhaar card (UAN). The Employees Provident Fund Organization established this (EPFO).
