WhatsApp is updating through the Google Play Beta Program, taking it to version 2.23.19.3.
This update brings a nifty feature: the ability to swiftly send original quality photos and videos. Some lucky beta testers can already access it.
In a recent article about WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.12, we unveiled this feature. It allows users to share media in its original quality, eliminating the hassle of navigating through menus and folders. While it was in development during previous updates, WhatsApp has now officially rolled it out in the 2.23.19.3 beta update on the Google Play Store, granting select beta testers the power to swiftly share original quality photos and videos.

Take a look at the attached screenshot – there’s a new entry point in the documents picker. This shortcut simplifies selecting photos and videos from your app gallery. When shared through this shortcut, they are sent as documents, preserving their quality and HEIC metadata. This makes it even easier than before to share media in its original quality.

This feature significantly enhances the user experience when sharing media. By allowing users to share original quality photos and videos, WhatsApp ensures that content retains its original resolution, clarity, and fidelity. This means no loss of details, sharpness, or color accuracy due to compression or downsizing during the sharing process.
The ability to send original quality photos and videos is currently available to some beta testers who update their WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. It will gradually roll out to more users over the next few days.
